Life Hacks For Body, Diet And Mental Health This Summer -
Life Hacks For Body, Diet And Mental Health This Summer - The sun is up, the sky is blue, itâs beautiful and so are you The onset of summer is a hopeful time of year, full of promise and vitamin D-powered energy spikes. Itâs the perfect time to pick up a new hobby and kick that harmful habit. The best part? You donât need to upheave your entire schedule to get in on the action. Want to be fitter, healthier and happier? Join the club and implement these easy life hacks this summer. Check out these life hacks for a healthier body and mind. Life Hacks For A Healthier You The body Kick the gym Thatâs right. Unless you have the cash to burn and a serious erg addiction, exercising at the gym should be considered a second-class session. Instead of paying your June membership, consider hitting the streets or your living room floor instead. Youâll burn more calories pounding pavement that you would on the treadmill, and suffer fewer injuries doing push-ups at home than working the weight machines. Plus, your purse will thank you. A pound for every pound Need some extra incentive to follow your exercise regime? Put a pound, dollar or euro (because I donât know where youâre reading this from!) in a jar for every successful workout you complete. When the jar is full, use it to buy yourself a treat â" whether thatâs a new dress or a particular video game youâve been hankering after. Peacock power Still rocking those old workout togs your mum bought you back in 2010? Do yourself a favour: invest in some comfy kit thatâll make you feel as good as you look. If you canât wait to put your workoutfit on each morning, youâre that much more likely to actually get your sweat on too. The diet Fresh start Every morning, before breakfast and after youâve struggled out of bed to your alarm, down a glass of lukewarm water mixed with lime or lemon juice. As well as kick-starting your metabolism, this tasty concoction will help purify your liver, improve digestion, boost your immune system and lower blood pressure. Itâs also a great source of potassium, calcium and magnesium. For extra pluses, add cayenne pepper, organic apple-cider vinegar, cinnamon and/or ground ginger. Hot stuff! Get chili with it Getting creative in the kitchen? Add chili or ginger to sauces. Research shows that the capsaicinoids found in chili peppers boost energy expenditure by up to 50 kcal a day. Remember: it all adds up. Ginger, meanwhile, has been proven to reduce muscle soreness by a quarter when consumed. What a relief! Get wet Well, not really. But staying hydrated is important. Without water, humans can survive a maximum of three days; even mild dehydration causes symptoms of fatigue, headache and low mood, while more chronic cases can cause digestive issues and weight gain. Still canât get those two litres in? Get yourself a large bottle and ist it on your desk. Consume one through the mornig and one through the afternoon. Voila! You are sufficiently bathroom-bound to function as a human should. The mind Stay no to the snooze Love a weekend lie-in? Do your brain a favour and try to rise at the same time throughout the week, whether itâs Monday or Sunday. Getting too much sleep can be as bad as too little, and will make most people sluggish for the rest of the day. Do the sensible thing and keep training your body for that 7 AM alarm. Drop the deadweight No, Iâm not talking about that extra inch around your waist. A natural side-effect of growing up in the narrowing of your friendship circle. You have too many responsibilities â" to family, to partners, to friends and to work â" to burn time on those unworthy of it. Make sure the people you give up time for are worth the spend. Drop the moaners, the drainers, the slackers and uncarers. Surround yourself with real friends and reap real rewards. The five-year plan It cvan be easy to fret and stress over every little thing. Next time something gets to you, sit back and ask yourself this simple question: âWill I be worried about this in five yearsâ time?â If the answer is ânoâ, check your response. Short-term annoyances are two-a-penny in life; learning to differentiate between what is a real concern and what a fleeting distraction is key to your mental happiness. Whether itâs your fitness, diet or thought patterns that need a little TLC, looking after yourself should be at the top of your agenda for the coming months. Implement the above quick-fixes and youâll be well on the way to a healthier, happier you. What To Put In Your LinkedIn Summary Section
What To Put In Your LinkedIn Summary Section Your LinkedIn Summary is too important to leave blank. And a couple of short sentences wont cut it either. Get ideas and inspiration on what should go in this important section of your LinkedIn profile. Why Your LinkedIn Summary Is Important When it comes to writing your LinkedIn Summary, short and sweet isnt the best strategy. In fact, it may be hurting you. This section seems to be used by LinkedIn to evaluate skills and other keywords. (LinkedIn doesnt share its algorithm, but experts have tested and experimented with this section and found it to be important.) LinkedIn did report (in 2017) Having 40 words or more on your summary ensures you show up in search results and people with at least five skills listed on their LinkedIn profile receive up to 17x more profile views. Long ago, Human Resources would have to wait until the job interview to learn about you. But today, they can read your LinkedIn profile. This section is your opportunity to highlight your skills and experience. And you can go deeper than this. Explain your motivation, what drives you, or what you are known for. Even if you choose NOT to use this section to share insight about yourself, others will. And because theyve provided more information, the recruiter or HR rep gets a better sense of their fit. What Should You Write Your Summary is kind of like your pitch where you answer the question tell me about yourself. Humans are curious creatures and you can use your summary to answer questions about who you are. You have 2,000 characters, use them wisely. Write in the first person First things first. Write your summary in the first person. Use I, me and my. It is your profile, you are writing it so use your own voice and personal pronouns. Format for easy skimming Make your summary easy to skim. (No one reads anything anymore.) This means short paragraphs, white space, clear subsections. The first two lines are key Only the first two-three lines are viewable without having to click show more. Use these lines to convince the reader they need to see more. You can do this by talking about the problems you solve for companies, the solutions youve implemented, or a teaser of some sort. Avoid including information they can already see when looking at the top of your profile (city, your headline, education, or last job and employer). Tell your story and inject your personality Dont be generic or vanilla. Use your own story to highlight what makes you different. What obstacles have you overcome? What was a defining moment in your career? Why did you choose your career? Show. Dont just tell One of the best features of your LinkedIn Summary section is the ability to embed files. Video, weblinks, photos, and pdfs. This means you can show samples of your work. If youre comfortable, why not include a video and explain your career that way? Get more tips here. Write about yourself like you are a business Use the same logic businesses do when writing web content. They provide a compelling reason to do business with them. They talk about the problems they solve, what makes them different (and better) than the competition and how they are unique. They use SEO (search engine optimization) strategies to make sure someone searching for their service will find their page. Include a list of keywords At the end of your summary, include a list of keywords. This is the perfect opportunity to interject work processes, skills and technology you want to get in there without having to worry about using them in context. Introduce the list with the words Key Skills or Expertise Include your contact info You may choose to include your contact information (email and/or phone number) to make it super-simple for people not connected to you to reach out. If you are actively job searching, this can make it easier for recruiters to contact you. Want more help maximizing your LinkedIn profile? Check out this 20 point checklist. Why Some Millennials Cant Find Jobs and What They Can Do About It - CareerEnlightenment.com
Why Some Millennials Canât Find Jobs and What They Can Do About It LinkedIn 7 Facebook Twitter 7 Google+ The unemployment rates for millennials are higher than those in other age groups. This up-and-coming generation is shaping how we think about work, and yet they are struggling to find jobs. The modern workplace needs them to gain experience and take the places of previous generations, and yet they seem to experience many stumbling blocks when trying to enter the job market.Expectations may be too highThere is an idea that millennials are overconfident about what they can expect. They want the higher pay that comes from more responsibility without first getting the experience they need. This overconfidence could be affecting their potential. If millennials donât find a âdream job,â they may get discouraged and stop looking. They may not even think of looking for a job opportunity at a company like Walmart, for example, because they donât realize how much they can progress and grow once they have a foot in the door.Work ethic, ability t o take responsibility and critical thinking are skills that are likely to draw the attention of employers and create new opportunities. Like many other large companies, Walmart has plenty of opportunities for advancement. It is looking for software engineers, data scientists, entrepreneurs, merchants, and technologists.Mismatched skillsMillennials are facing a demand for new kinds of skills and education. Many of them are well educated, have skills and are ready to find employment. However, they often lack the most basic workplace skills such as an ability to communicate and organize. They may have focused on theoretical studies and be highly qualified and yet not have the work skills that come with experience. Employers want to experience and recruiters emphasize that hiring managers usually believe college graduates are not ready for the workplace. For those who have just graduated, this may make them feel getting a job is impossible. To get that all-important experience, they may h ave to take on a position that is not ideal, but they should do this at a company where there is potential for growth.Today many free online courses exist that millennials can take to train themselves in key areas important to employers. Finding a mentor to help teach them the skills they need is another option. The more initiative they show in learning and trying to further their careers, the more likely employers are to be impressed. Mentioning any kind of paid work experience, even if it was freelance, can be helpful. The wrong focusMillennials may focus on what they need from the job, rather than on how employers will benefit from employing them. In an interview, they will speak about their education, themselves and what they expect from the job.Itâs better to focus on the benefits they can provide to the employee, such as an ability to solve problems or save money for them. This focus should start with the cover letter and continue in the interviews. In a cover letter, they sh ould introduce themselves and then outline their understanding of the role and the organization. They should make a pitch for their vision of the role and why they would be great at it. A competitive, crowded labor marketEmployment opportunities are limited, and most adults agree that it is much harder today for young people to get jobs. This is due to a variety of different factors such as the higher prices of a college education, the economic crash less than a decade ago and a wider skills gap which creates difficulty in finding an entry point.Millennials need to increase their employability. They have graduated in a difficult economic environment. They need to think about developing skills in new emerging professions in fields like health care, IT, finance and energy. It is in these fields that they can build a foundation for a successful career. Some of them are prepared to go back to graduate school, but trade schools and certificate programs also give the opportunity to retrain and transition into a different field. They are also less time consuming and costly than graduate school.Negative attitudesAnxiety, doubt, fear, and frustration are just some of the emotions experienced by millennials who are battling to find jobs. This can prevent them from being open to new possibilities. If they are positive, engaged and focused, they are more likely to find opportunities to grow, even if they start in a fairly menial position. No-one wants to be an assistant, but at least itâs better than not having a job at all and the way the job is done may just draw the attention of someone in leadership and open up new opportunities.Student debtStudent debt is often a crushing burden for millennials. This debt puts pressure on them and may keep them stuck in a low-paying job with no prospects where they just survive rather than fulfilling their potential.Careful planning can help them to take a step forward at a time without losing hope. Staying informed about the job market, keeping tabs on what skills they need to develop and staying positive can help them to make progress.Activity on social sitesActivity on social sites can work against millennials. Employers may have a very different idea of whatâs appropriate on social media to them. Itâs a bad idea to post a job interview on social media unless social networking is part of the job description and they have something positive to say. While most students keep their resume up-to-date when looking for jobs, they may be less careful about taking potentially damaging content from their social media accounts. However, social media can also be used by millennials to increase their chances of being employed. Employers who see a professional profile on LinkedIn and read great content posted by a potential employee will receive a favorable impression.Just because everyone agrees that finding a job is difficult for millennials and there are no guarantees, doesnât mean it isnât worth the effort. Follow these tactics, keep thinking positively and be open to every possibility.

How Can Social Media Affect Your Job Search
How Can Social Media Affect Your Job Search People have been fired over what theyve said in blog posts or on social media sites. Sharing confidential information or making negative comments about a business have cost many employees their jobs. Some employees have even been fired over making positive comments about their company. What is grounds for termination in the cyber-world and how can social media affect your job search? Can having a personal blog, professional blog or social media account impact your job search? It most certainly could and probably will. If you post about how you conduct yourself in interviews or if you post about how you embellish your resume, potential employers will be able to see it. You want to have a profile that does not scream âbad employeeâ and that could be anything from bragging about excessive drinking to how you steal notepads from work. Is it alright for prospective employers to be reading your blog or social media account? Perhaps not, but, when you post something on the Internet, its there for anyone to see, no matter what their motives might be. Some people, who have taken extra steps with their job search, will list their personal site or social media address on their resumes. Again, you should only do this if there is nothing you want to keep from a prospective employer on your site. Who hasnt Googled someone they were interested in? Well, HR managers do the same thing with prospective employees. If you have it on your resume, then the employer will definitely look at it. Most hiring managers will look at a prospects website if they list it. Others will try to find out as much personal information as they can. This is not the days of â3 referencesâ anymore, now your 3 references are Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. If your blog is hidden or private and people in the office or a hiring manager finds out your identity, they can still look up sensitive information about you. They certainly wont mind reading it, so dont put anything negative about current coworkers or any past employers you have had. Once again, do not include a link on your resume to your social media site or personal website if it contains anything that might be damaging to your job search. Always be careful about what you put online. If you have a social media account, people will probably have no problem reading it, after all, you put your information out there, so its public domain now. Even if you think only your friends can access it, you still have to take caution and be proactive about what you put out. If youre unemployed, consider putting together a website or social media site thats specifically related to your job search. You can position yourself as an expert in your field. Attach samples of your resume, portfolio or any certifications you have. People are searching, so when they find you, what do you want them to see?
